‘Life-changing’ injuries for pensioner injured in Burnham

AN ELDERLY woman is believed to have suffered ‘life-changing’ injuries after she was involved in a collision with a car on Tuesday evening.

The woman, in her 80s, was injured on Berrow Road in Burnham, and police were called at around 6pm.

The road was closed shortly afterwards while investigations were carried out at the scene, and the woman was taken to Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton for treatment.

A spokesman for Avon and Somerset Constabulary told the Mercury: “We were called to reports a woman had been involved in a collision with a car on Berrow Road.

“She was taken to Musgrove Park after she sustained an injury which may be life-changing but not life-threatening.”

It is believed the woman suffered head injuries during the collision.
