HUNDREDS of mourners filled a Weston church to pay their respects to one of the town's most loved clergymen.The funeral of Rev Barry Irons, former rector of Weston, was held at All Saint's Church on Wednesday (July 12).Over 350 grieving friends and family members attended the requiem mass including former mayors, dignitaries, friends and family, many of whom had been baptised, married or helped by Rev Irons during his 40 years service in the church.A close friend said: "He was as naughty as he was nice and very much loved by everybody."The service, led by Rev Peter Clark, was followed by a service at Weston Crematorium with close friends and family.Rev Irons, a former Church Army member, requested that his ashes be scattered underneath one of his favourite haunts, The Captains Cabin in Birnbeck Road, from the RNLI lifeboat that he blessed when it first arrived in Weston.
