A TRIAL scheme to switch off street lights late at night on three major Weston roads could be rolled out across the town if it is successful.
In October and November lights along Herluin Way, Somerset Avenue and the A371 between the Helicopter Museum and the motorway bridge outside Banwell will be switched off between midnight and 5am.
If the energy-saving scheme is a success, lights in other areas of Weston and North Somerset will also be turned off between those times.
The authority says lights in residential and populated areas, near roundabouts and junctions will stay on.
