A CLEVEDON police community support officer has won an award for improving the safety of young and old people in the town.PCSO Linda Richards joined the constabulary as an enquiry officer and has been a PCSO with the community beat team at Clevedon for two and a half years.Her devotion to enhancing her communities is reflected by her achieving outside training in areas such as the Suzy Lamplugh Trust and health and safety to enable her to go beyond the normal remit of her role. She has designed several booklets and leaflets around safety and awareness for the young and elderly which have been adopted by the constabulary.Sergeant Pete Abrams said: "PCSO Richards is tireless in her work in the schools in the area, establishing Youth Watch in Clevedon and Churchill comprehensive schools and maintaining regular beat surgeries in both schools."Her achievements in the community are endless, she has created Pubwatch schemes in Clevedon, Congresbury and Yatton and is working towards reviving the store net radio system in Clevedon."She has sought and achieved funding for a mobile skate park which regularly attracts up to 50 youngsters at a time at the various venues on the sector."PCSO Richards was presented with the Yaha Amlani award at a ceremony in Taunton. It is given annually to the police staff member or group judged to have made the greatest contribution to diversity/community relations in the constabulary.
