Members of the Lions met with Cheddar Local Action Team (LAT) on Monday and said they would be delighted to help in any way they could. LAT chairman Jill Male said: "We are really pushing for a skate park in Sharpham Playing Fields. The parish council has already agreed to submit the planning application for us and we have been looking at designs in the region of £160,000. "Although we have already been given some generous donations, including £10,000 from Lord Bath, we need all the help we can get."I would love to see building start in 2008, which means we really need to up our campaign."The Cheddar Vale Lions has said that although it already runs its own charity fund-raising events, it will try and help in any way it can, such as providing more hands for LAT events. The LAT will be holding a cheese and wine evening in August, with proceeds going towards the skate park project. Jill added: "The skate park will be a facility youngsters from Cheddar, Axbridge, Draycott and Shipham will be able to enjoy. It will be a state-of-the-art place that will hopefully be able to host national skate events."The skate park will be a really big boost for tourism and the economy in Cheddar.
