Nursery children are celebrating after it achieved an ‘outstanding’ Ofsted report.

Little Learners Nursery, based at St Anne’s Church Academy in West Wick, was handed the top rating off the education watchdog for its provision.

Ofsted inspectors praised a whole host of achievements including the strong bond between home and school, its care and attention to the pupils and its brilliant facilities.

St Anne’s Church Academy became part of The Priory Learning Trust (TPLT) in April.

But the nursery and reception classes were praised as performing ‘extremely well’ by inspectors.

The report says: “They keep the learning environment under constant review to ensure it continues to excite and stimulate children’s curiosity.

“Staff have an excellent understanding of how young children learn.

“The classrooms, both inside and out, are well organised and the learning activities are stimulating and well matched to children’s needs and interests. Children show high levels of engagement and are able to concentrate for sustained periods of time.”

The inspectors said the children behaved ‘excellently’ during their visit and staff were attentive to the students’ safety.

It added: “Children develop a good understanding of how to play safely, to keep themselves and others safe and stay healthy.

“They wash their hands, for example, after making clay hedgehogs, and use craft knives for cutting with clear levels of independence and confidence.”

Acting nursery manager Anna Blasdale said: “Everyone at Little Learners is really thrilled. This was an amazing report.

“All children at Little Learners are able to use the extensive school facilities including sports field and climbing trails as well as enjoying their own dedicated outdoor learning spaces which Ofsted recognised as well organised and stimulating.”

St Anne’s School was handed a good rating and was praised by inspectors for its ‘outstanding’ attention to personal development, behaviour and welfare.
