HOPES for a casino to be built in North Somerset have been dashed because the council says it will not be able to meet a deadline.North Somerset Council told the Government in November it was interested in being part of plans to build a network of Las Vegas-style casinos around the country. The Government said it wanted details of where a casino could be built in the district handed to its advisory panel by March 31.But North Somerset now says it has not been able to put its bid together quickly enough to meet next Friday's deadline.Speaking at a full council meeting this week, council leader Alan Hockridge said: "Having considered the submission document together with our director of development and environment, I consider the case and benefits of a casino being located within North Somerset have not been sufficiently advanced to support a submission by the panel's deadline of March 31.
