THE first in a series of events to celebrate locally-made food and craft products is approaching.

The Made in North Somerset Showcase runs from September 17 to October 2.

The project, co-ordinated by North Somerset Council, provides an opportunity for the public to see behind the scenes of food and craft businesses.

There will be daily events across North Somerset including craft workshops and demonstrations, brewery tours, farm visits, orchard open days and tastings.

The council’s executive member for tourism and leisure, councillor Felicity Baker said: “In the longer term we hope this event will help people discover there is more to the district and encourage people to buy more local products.

“Businesses such as cafes, restaurants, accommodation providers and pubs will be encouraged to do their bit by sourcing more products locally.

“The area has so much on offer in terms of its natural beauty and the district also has many wonderful food and craft businesses.”
