ANNUAL membership prices for local people could be introduced at Weston's waterpark and museum.

Weston Town Council’s facilities committee discussed the possibility of introducing yearly or seasonal membership prices for the amenities on Monday.

The committee agreed that Patrick Joel, the council’s facilities manager, should now research possible schemes before reporting back to the authority later this year.

While the Water Adventure Play Park and Weston Museum could see schemes introduced for people from either Weston or North Somerset, the scheme would not cover The Blakehay Theatre.

Council leader Councillor Keith Morris said: “I think a problem would be proposing this for The Blakehay too when many of the performances are put on by external organisations who have not necessarily agreed to these changes.”

Mr Joel said: “I’m confident that a seasonal or annual charge would be a huge boon to the people of the area.”
