A village's brownie pack has been working towards helping the environment.

The 1st Locking Castle Brownies met at the church, in Jasmine Way, and 10 youngsters made their promise.

The district commissioner was on hand to present all the girls with a badge to mark the occasion.

Brown owl Lisa Wareham said: "Making a promise is such a big moment for brownies.

"It inspires young girls to become independent and confident and do the best for their communities.

"The group has also been working towards its environmental badge and the girls have created ecobricks which we aim to donate to businesses in the future.

"We are teaching them about the dangers of single-use plastics and have filled up plastic bottles with recyclable plastics which can then
be reused for environmental projects."

The group meets every Tuesday and is for girls aged 10-14.
