An appeal has been launched after plans to build new homes near a service station were refused.

North Somerset Council objected to plans to build five four-bedroom houses between Mayfield Farm and Locking Service Station in January this year.

The council had concerns over the impact the development would have on the landscape and road safety.

Agent Alder King Planning Consultants say in the appeal form: “The appellant was surprised to learn of the refusal given the extent of the pre-application discussions and the amount of detailed information which had been provided throughout the application.

“The appellant considers the proposed scheme sound in planning policy terms and believed planning permission would be granted.”
