Part of Locking Road in Weston-super-Mare will be closed overnight for two weeks for resurfacing.

The closure will be in place between the road’s junctions with Hutton Moor Road and Earlham Grove, from 7pm to 6am.

The work is costing North Somerset Council £61,500 and is being carried out by Skanska. Crews will repair the kerbs, clean the gullies and resurface the pavements as well as the road.

There will be no works carried out at the weekend, and the road will be made safe to use between closures.

The council’s deputy leader and executive member with responsibility for highways Elfan Ap Rees said: “This is a very busy stretch of road so we’ve scheduled the works to take place overnight in order to minimise any potential disruption.

“Access will be maintained for businesses and residents during the overnight closures and we’ll have traffic marshals on site to assist road users.”
