A long-standing wildlife club in Weston-super-Mare has been disbanded after 40 years.

The Weston branch of the Royal Society For The Protection Of Birds has been running for four decades.

It met once a month, where speakers gave talks, and also organised field trips to the Somerset Levels.

Member Grant Parris said: “The group has found it difficult to attract new members, especially younger people to take the group forward.

“The group has made many good friends over the 40 years that it has been going and there were a lot of sad faces at the final meeting.”

Former members will still be organising field trips.
