A LORRY has shed its load on one lane of the A370 near the M5, spilling its contents over the road and causing lengthy traffic tailbacks.

The incident happened at around 12pm, when the lorry, which is thought to be French, shed its load as it came onto the St George’s roundabout from the M5, causing five-four-by-one-metre rolls of paper to spill onto the road.

One vehicle was hit by one of the bales and damaged, but Avon and Somerset Police say that there were no injuries sustained during the incident.

One lane of the A370 is currently open as police try to clear the lorry, while traffic is moving slowly.
