A ‘fantastic’ summer fair has raised £1,400 for a community church.

The Friends of St Andrew’s Church hosted its annual summer fair this month to raise much needed funds for its maintenance and upkeep.

The event was held at the church, on Weston-super-Mare’s Bournville estate, and saw more than 200 people pass through its doors.

Church member Lesley Taylor said: “It went really well considering we had competition from other events on the estate but we raised more than last year.

“It was lovely to meet the local people from our community and also see some familiar faces.”

People were able to buy and enjoy refreshments and homemade cakes, as well as take part in raffles and a bottle tombola.

A tabletop sale will be held at the For All Healthy Living Centre, in Lonsdale Avenue, on July 8.

It will run from 10am-12.30pm and will raise money for the church.

Entry is free.
