A YOUNG environmentalist is staging a sponsored tree-top protest at plans to dig up a large willow in the grounds of a Worle school.Lydia Wadman, a year 10 student at Worle Community School, is holding the sit-in after teachers announced three trees will have to be cut down as work starts to build a new £1.5million restaurant at the site.Trevor Bailey said: "Two of the trees are very small but one is an old willow tree and the kids are very sad that it has to go. They even asked if we could build the restaurant around it."Lydia in particular wasn't happy so she's doing a sponsored sit-in to raise money to buy new trees to plant in its place."Work on the new canteen started last week and is expected to be finished before Spring 2007.
