Police are appealing for information after money and jewellery was taken on Friday, July 14.

Police are appealing for information after a ‘substantial’ amount of cash in US dollars was stolen from a house in Lympsham.

Officers say it happened at about 9.45pm yesterday (Friday), when householders were disturbed at home by the suspects.

An Avon and Somerset Constabulary spokesman said that after demanding money and jewellery, the suspects made off on foot towards the church with the cash and some costume jewellery in a 1980s-style Louis Vuitton duffel bag belonging to the family.

The police helicopter and specialist dog units supported officers in their initial investigation and crime scene investigators have examined the property.

DC Richard Grierson said: “This incident has understandably left the couple feeling shaken and distressed and they are being supported by their family.

“We’re carrying out house-to-house enquiries in the area but I’d ask anyone with any information which could help the investigation to get in touch with me.

“I’m especially keen to hear from anyone who has been offered US dollars, costume jewellery or the designer bag for sale in unusual circumstances, or who saw any persons or vehicles acting suspiciously in the East Brent or Lympsham area.”

Anyone with information is asked to ring 101, quoting reference 5217161056.

Alternatively people can contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
