Motorists are facing possible three-hour delays on the M5 this evening as a lorry has collided with a barrier and lost some of its steel across the carriageway.

The northbound exit at junction 18 is closed, and it could be as late as 7.30pm when it re-opens.
A Highways England spokesman said: “A vehicle carrying a load of rolled steel has collided with the barrier, with some of the load across the carriageway.
“As these weigh approximately 10 tonnes each this is expected to take some time to clear – please be aware if heading that way.”
No-one has been reported injured.

The latest travel maps show traffic developing between junction 19 (Portishead) and junction 18 (Avonmouth).
**Update: 18.10pm**
Traffic is flowing freely along the M5 northbound but the sliproad remains closed.
