An accident on the M5 northbound between Weston-super-Mare and Clevedon is causing long delays today (Monday).

Drivers are facing delays of up to 40 minutes on the motorway, as one lane remains closed.

Traffic is at a standstill until junction 22 (Burnham-on-Sea) with ever-growing queues already stretching as far back as Bridgwater.

Highways England predicts normal traffic conditions will resume at around 2pm.

Traffic is also moving slowly on the M5 southbound, between junction 20 (Clevedon) and junction 21 (Weston) due to high volumes of traffic.

Drivers are facing delays of around 10 to 20 minutes.

All lanes of the M5 northbound between Weston and Clevedon are now open, but queues are still stretching back to Burnham-on-Sea.
