SIXTY-FIVE homes could be built on a disused business site in Weston.

Housing developer Bellway Homes has applied to North Somerset Council to build the homes on a site in Mendip Road.

It currently contains offices, a maintenance depot and storage facility which would be demolished if the application is successful.

The site was vacated by horticulture and grounds-maintenance firm Quadron Services last April, and has been maintained by the council since then.

The proposed development would see a mixture of two, three and four-bedroom homes built with associated garages, car parking, landscaping and engineering works.

There would also be an open space created at the centre of the proposed development.

Nine of the new homes would be accessed off Osborne Avenue and the remainder through Mendip Road.

No objections have yet been raised to the redevelopment of the site, with the authority likely to make a decision on the application by August 22.
