Man and three children rescued from Weston-super-Mare beach

A man and three children were rescued by firefighters after they became stuck in the mud on Weston-super-Mare beach.

Crews from Avon Fire and Rescue Service were called to the tideline on Weston beach at 5.45pm yesterday (Wednesday).

Two crews from Weston and the service hovercraft attended the incident along with rescue teams from Weston Coastguard.

The hovercraft was used to take everyone to safety.

Anyone who needs assistance along the coast, or sees anyone in difficulty, is asked to call 999 and ask for the coastguard.
