Man arrested after counterfeit tobacco found

A WESTON man has been arrested on suspicion of possessing counterfeit tobacco worth hundreds of pounds.

The 42-year-old was stopped on Thursday by police in Prospect Place in the town centre. The man’s van was searched by officers, who found what they believed to be counterfeit tobacco, worth hundreds of pounds.

It was seized, along with a number of bottles of wine, and passed onto North Somerset Council’s trading standards team.

The man has been released on police bail, pending further enquiries.
