Police have arrested a man in connection with a burglary at a shop in Weston-super-Mare.

McColl’s convenience store, in Locking Road, was broken into in the early hours of Friday morning and a large quantity of cigarettes was stolen.

A 33-year-old man from Weston has been arrested on suspicion of burglary and has been bailed until February 26.

A spokesman for Avon and Somerset Constabulary said: “We received a call at 2.30am on Friday reporting a number of men leaving McColl’s in Locking Road following a burglary.

“A 33-year-old man from Weston has been arrested on suspicion of burglary and has been released on bail until February 26. Enquiries are continuing.”
