A MAN was attacked outside his home in Nailsea after he challenged two men who were tampering with his car.

A MAN was attacked outside his home in Nailsea after he challenged two men who were tampering with his car.

The attack happened in North Street just after 12.30am on Monday morning.

The 47-year-old heard the two men and went outside to chase them off, but he was knocked to the ground by his attackers and punched and kicked repeatedly.

He is now being treated in hospital for internal kidney injuries and cuts and bruises.

Section inspector Steve Date said: "This is a particularly nasty assault. We are investigating and are keen to hear from any witnesses directly or through Crimestoppers."

One of the attackers is described as a stocky white man aged between 20 and 30 who was about 5ft 9ins tall with shoulder-length curly hair.
