A MAN has been charged with making explosives after his house was raided by bomb disposal experts.

Phillip Leonard, aged 36, was arrested yesterday morning (Fri) after a warrant was carried out at a house in Beatty Way, Burnham.

A 100m cordon was put in place while police officers and a bomb disposal team searched his house and garden. They later took items away, either for evidence or for safe disposal.

Neighbours were evacuated from their homes when the warrant took place and only returned home at about 10pm.

Leonard has today (Sat) been charged with four offences of making explosives and is due to appear at Sedgemoor Magistrates Court on Monday.
