A MAN from Weston was found hiding four bags of heroin inside his body when police x-rayed him after a drugs raid.

The raid in the early hours of the morning on September 3 saw police discover almost £2,000 in cash as well as drug equipment in the property.

The force arrested the 29-year-old man and a 42-year-old woman for possession with intent to supply drugs.

Though the officers found no actual drugs in the property, they became convinced they were hiding drugs inside their bodies and sent them for x-rays at Weston General Hospital.

The x-ray showed four packages inside the man which once tested were found to be heroin, totalling 16 grams.

PC Samantha Hiney said: “This was a great result and means that these class A drugs will no longer be finding their way onto the streets of Weston. This raid also resulted in the arrest of two suspected drug dealers who will now have to face the courts to answer for their crimes.”

Chief Superintendent Julian Moss said: “I hope that this sends a message to other would-be drug dealers. We are watching you and if you decide to sell drugs in Weston we will be relentless in pursuing you and bringing you to justice.

“Dealing drugs doesn’t pay. What it can earn you is a very hefty prison sentence and a significant fine.

“Our financial investigation team can also strip drug dealers of any assets that have been obtained using money earned illegally.”

Anyone with information about drugs is asked to call police on 101.
