A man is in hospital after suffering a 'large' cut to his back during an assault in Weston-super-Mare over the weekend.

Three men were arrested following two incidents around Drove Road on Saturday evening.

The man sustained his injury in the fields at the rugby ground end of Drove Road, according to police at about 7pm.

The altercation involved two men and was followed by a further incident in Drove Road.

An Avon and Somerset Constabulary spokesman said this morning (Monday) that the victim’s injuries are ‘not life-threatening or life-changing’.

He added: “Three men have been arrested in connection with the incident. They have been released under investigation.

“Our enquiries are continuing and we would like to hear from anyone who was in the Drove Road or Sunnyside Road area on Saturday night between 7-7.30pm who may have information to assist us.
