A 50-YEAR-OLD man from Bleadon has pleaded guilty to possessing nearly 3,000 indecent images of children, some as young as one-year- old.John Alford, of Roman Road, admitted the crimes at North Somerset Courthouse in St Georges on Wednesday (April 4).Appearing in the dock, dressed smartly in a black suit, Alford was accused of 24 charges of making an indecent photo of a child, one charge of possessing an indecent image of a child and one charge of distributing an indecent image of a child.All the offences took place between February 18 and November 29 last year.Edwin Gomez, prosecuting, said the haul included six images and 10 films which were of the most serious kind, rated category five.All the images were discovered on Alford's computer.Alford, who will now be placed on the sex offenders register, was released on unconditional bail and will be sentenced at Bristol Crown Court on April 25.
