A man was rescued after his car crashed into a ditch in Wick St Lawrence yesterday (Friday).

Avon Fire and Rescue crews from Weston-super-Mare and a water rescue crew from Bedminster responded to a call in Wick Road at 8.22pm yesterday evening after reports of a car on its roof in a rhyne.

The man, approximately 24 years old, was stabilised by paramedics and rescued by fire crews before being rushed to hospital.

A spokesman from the fire service described the retrieval as difficult due to the poor access and cold water at the bottom of the steep ditch.
