A TEENAGE girl was mugged of her mobile phone and shoes by a knife-wielding man in Banwell.

The 15-year-old was walking along Knightcott Road just after 10pm on Saturday when she was attacked.

She felt a tap on her shoulder and was then grabbed by her hair and pulled onto the footpath which runs between Knightcott Road and The Paddock.

The girl had her Sony Ericsson W910i phone taken and her attacker, who had a brown handled kitchen knife, then took her black suede ankle boots.

He demanded her to take off her clothes but she refused and was then threatened by the man.

She was pushed back onto Knightcott Road and she ran off and raised the alarm.

The suspect is described as a white man, in his 30s, and around 6ft tall.

He was dressed in black and had long hair, which police believe may have been a wig as it was uneven and patchy.

The victim believes she was followed by the same man earlier in the evening along the same footpath heading in the direction of Locking at about 6.30pm.

Police are keen to speak to anyone who was in the Knightcott Road area at the times mentioned.

Anyone with information is being urged to ring police on 0845 4567000 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
