A MAN who was rushed to hospital from a Weston nightclub with severe head injuries has died.

Joe Williams, who is in his 20s, was taken to Frenchay Hospital in the early hours of Sunday morning with a bleed on the brain.

It is believed Mr Williams was out with a group of friends and his girlfriend, Vicky Evans, when he was expelled from the venue.

Police and emergency services were called to VII nightclub in Princess Royal Square at 2.50am.

A man in his 30s - believed to be a doorman at the club - was arrested later that day but was bailed on Monday pending further inquiries.

A police spokesman said: “We can confirm a man involved in an incident in Princess Royal Square has just passed away in hospital.

“Investigations are ongoing and the man who was arrested remains on police bail.”
