Part of a busy road in Weston-super-Mare will close on Tuesday for seven weeks so drainage work can be carried out.

Milton Hill – which runs between Upper Bristol Road and Worlebury Hill, by Worlebury Golf Club – will be partially closed so cross drains and drainage pipes can be installed.

The work will reduce the risk of flooding for nearby properties. There will also be some resurfacing works carried out while the road is closed.

The road will be closed between its junction with Upper Bristol Road and 11 Milton Hill. A diversion will be put in place via Ashbury Drive and Upper Bristol Road.

People living in Valda Road will have access to their homes during the work and people will also be able to get to the Methodist church, village hall and Worlebury Garage.

The work isbeing carried out by Skanska on behalf of North Somerset Council, at a cost of £70,000.
