FURIOUS residents have started a petition against a massage parlour that has opened in a residential neighbourhood. The opening of Emmanuelles in Baker Street, Weston, just yards from a primary school, has provoked such outrage that angry parents living nearby are collecting pages of names to hand in to North Somerset Council.Mother-of-one Avonia Knight, of Wooler Road, has so far got 42 people to sign up to her petition calling on the authority to shut the massage parlour down. The 33-year-old said: "Last Saturday a gang of men were marching along the road at 2.30am yelling 'Where's the massage parlour'? They woke everyone up. "The shutters on Emmanuelles were up and the lights were on. Something has to be done."Weston Mead Area Residents' Association is also planning to start a petition or bombard North Somerset Council with letters calling for the closure of the parlour.Chairman Geoff Bunn said: "Many of the children of our members go to Christ Church Primary School or the Sue Burroughs School of Dancing, and we are extremely concerned that a massage parlour has opened just round the corner."We understand such businesses have a right to exist but surely it would be more appropriate in another part of town away from two schools."Last week, Emmanuelles' co-owner Kaye Laker said no sexual services are sold there and clients only receive a massage. The Weston Mercury has received a letter, signed by five people living in Wooler Road, urging neighbours to 'mind their own business' about the massage parlour.
