Winscombe hosted its annual May Fair On The Green this week, where visitors enjoyed a variety of stalls and activities.

MP John Penrose, who lives in the village, opened the event at the Millennium Green on Saturday afternoon.

Chairman of the Millennium Green Trust, Lois Brenchley said: “The event was very well attended. There was a lovely family atmosphere.

“The fair seems to grow bigger every year. It really brings the community together.”

After some early rain the sun shone brightly and conditions were perfect on the green as children from Winscombe Primary School danced around the maypole.

Winscombe Tennis Club laid on sessions for youngsters, who also got involved with face-painting and a mini Ferris wheel before taking a tumble down a large inflatable slide.

Avon Owls was also in attendance, allowing guests to interact with a number of its birds of prey.

Ms Brenchley said: “We had 21 local organisations with stalls at the fair, the site was absolutely buzzing.”
