WESTON'S new mayor has some high flying ideas in mind to raise money for one of her good causes for the year.Councillor Paula Howell, who became the mayor earlier this month, has said she wants to take part in a wing walk for the Weston Super Kids Appeal.Cllr Howell said: "I know I want to do a wing walk for the appeal but know no more than that at this stage. I would like to do it in Weston but I am currently looking into all the details."Cllr Howell is also arranging a fund-raising evening at The Saigon restaurant in the Boulevard on July 26 and a ladies' evening and fashion show for September. The new mayor says she chose the appeal because, as a parent, she can imagine what it would be like to travel as far as Bristol with children for treatment. The appeal is, among other things, raising money for a children's ward at Weston General Hospital.Cllr Howell said: "I wanted to choose a cause that would support Weston and the surrounding area as it is a shame children have to travel as far as Bristol."My son used to have grommets and I didn't have to travel as far as Bristol but I can imagine how it could be traumatic if a child is ill."The appeal is Cllr Howell's main good cause for 2006/07. She will also be raising money for the bell restoration fund at St John The Baptist Parish Church.
