LIVES in Weston could be lost after thieves stole a satellite navigation device from a voluntary medic's car.John Brierly had the route-finding technology stolen from his car while it was parked outside his home in Longridge Way, Worle. The Avon Ambulance Service first responder relies on the equipment to quickly find people who are suffering from serious medical conditions such as heart attacks.John says he will not be able to get to patients before ambulances without the sat nav in his car because he has to stop and look at maps.He said: "I get called out quite a few times a week, especially on the weekends and it can be the difference between life and death."I'm a volunteer and my job is to try and beat the ambulance to the casualties. Without the sat nav I have to constantly stop and get out the map which takes extra valuable time."My ambulance jacket and helmet was in the car so the thieves knew what I used the sat nav for.
