Axbridge and Wedmore Medical Practice has been awarded a ‘good’ rating by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) , just months after being told it ‘required improvement’.

The Houlgate Way surgery, which has 8,400 patients on its books, was rated good in all areas by the medical watchdog in a report released this week.

This follows a poor report earlier this year when the practice was ordered to improve ahead of a second inspection.

Inspectors charged with measuring improvements said: “Risk assessments to identify and monitor risks to the environment were implemented and reviewed regularly.

“Cleaning schedules were in place and practice buildings were kept clean and hygienic. Overall, the practice is now rated as good.”
