Dozens of residents have had their say on plans to build 40 homes in East Huntspill.

Developer Core Strategic Land wants to build the homes on land off New Road.

About 30 members of the public attended a parish council meeting to discuss the plans on Monday when concerns around drainage and traffic were raised.

A council spokesman said: “The development must be limited to a maximum of 40 properties.

“There are several issues with drainage in the locality.

“The drainage board should offer expert opinion on the site and the planned route of the water drainage.

“There is a need for some means of traffic calming.

“This road has both a school and playing field, and as a straight road the 30mph speed limit is often ignored.”

The plans also include parking for 100 vehicles.

Sedgemoor District Council’s consultation period for this application expires on February 2.
