AN ANNUAL football match held in memory of a well-known Hutton woman helped raise more than £1,000.
Mandy Jones died in August 2011 at Weston Hospicecare in Uphill. Since then, her family and friends have been raising money for cancer research and awareness.
The event, held over the bank holiday weekend, celebrated the life of Mandy Jones, who was Hutton Football Club’s child welfare officer and also helped to form the first Hutton Girls team.
Hundreds of people visited throughout the day to enjoy lots of fun with a football theme. There was a bouncy castle, bungee trampoline and a special guest performance from the Shadows Elite cheerleading group. Hutton Allstar under-18s won the charity shield this year in a match against the Hutton Legends.
Hutton FC will donate 20 per cent of the profits to Weston Hospicecare. The rest of the money raised will be split between the club and the charity Mandy Jones 4 U, which was set up by her family and friends to raise awareness of skin cancer.
