WORSHIPPERS at a Portishead church will be praising the Lord in style - thanks to a £32,000 makeover of the building.Portishead Methodist Church has undergone a series of improvements including a complete redecoration.The building has also had new carpets and a new communion rail installed. The communion area has been redesigned to make it more spacious.The inside of the church has also had new lights.Portishead Methodist Church superintendent minister the Rev Chris Scotchbrook (pictured right) said: "The last improvement we made to the church was when we opened the Westley Centre in 1977 but we haven't done anything since."The whole place has now had an uplift and we are delighted at how it looks."The £32,000 was raised by the church's 120 members and from a number of bequests.The church was officially rededicated at a special service led by the Rev Peter Mortlock, deputy chairman of the Bristol Methodist District.It was opened by Eileen Derrick, the church's oldest member, and Ian Paget, a lifelong member of the congregation as well as Iona Booth a member of the junior church.
