Weston man Pete Skyrme - known in the music world as El Strawb - has uploaded his new music video My Body Needs An MOT to YouTube, which was shot in the former Barrow Hospital, in Barrow Gurney.

One of his close friends, Colby Jackson, aged 19, of Earlham Grove, Weston, took the part of the former worldwide pop star Michael Jackson, while his neighbour Simon Regan played the ‘demented doctor’ and edited the video.

El Strawb, of Montpelier, has been making music for the past 20 years and said the video cost a total of £13.50.

He said: “The idea for the video just happened. I had asked Colby a while ago if he would dance for me in a video. I had helped him out last year, putting together his backing track. He’s a very good friend.

“I went round to Barrow Gurney on my birthday on May 5. Shortly after this I had a note through my door from a neighbour saying he’d heard I make music. He needed to make a video for his portfolio, and could we meet.

“Six weeks later the video hits YouTube.”

El Strawb is now promoting his debut album By The Seaside and said his new project includes an original song from Colby, in the style of Michael Jackson.
