Cemetery toilets closed due to 'major' drug-taking problems

Cemetery toilets in Weston-super-Mare will be closed except during funerals because they have been used for drug-taking.
There have been ‘major’ problems with drug-taking at the toilets at Milton Road Cemetery, which is maintained by Weston Town Council.
Grounds manager Rob Thurston said to the council’s community services committee: “The toilets we have available to the public have experienced some major drug abuse issues, and we have ended up having to close those toilets other than when funerals are occurring.
“We were finding even when the cemetery gates were locked, cleaners were finding piles of needles and things inside.
“It is proving to be a difficult one to deal with at the moment.”
Toilets run by the council in Weston’s town centre have experienced similar problems in the past.
Bins were installed in the toilets in Grove Park because of drug-taking in them.
