A GROUP that provides transport for residents in two North Somerset villages is looking for more volunteers and members.

Churchill and Langford Minibus Society provides transport for those wanting to do their shopping in Weston and Clevedon, but the number of members has fallen dramatically.

The society, which has been running for 32 years, also needs more drivers to help for one and a half days every fortnight.

Society chairman Tony Hughes said: "I joined as a volunteer driver around 15 years ago and most years the society has had nearly 100 members.

"However, this has since dropped to around 50. This could be due to a change in the population in the villages and because a lot of our previous members may have died."

Residents using the service only have to pay a membership fee of £20 for a whole year and for that they will be provided with transport every fortnight.

Mr Hughes said: "It is a friendly and sociable way for those without transport to get around.

"Our group is open to anyone older than 50, or those with a good reason to join, such as those wanting to reduce their carbon footprint."

Those wanting to join the group or volunteer to help should call Tony Hughes on 01934 852725.
