POLICE are appealing for help to locate a woman who went missing from a Somerset town.

POLICE are appealing for help to locate a woman who went missing from a Somerset town.

Edith Batten, aged 79, was last seen at her home in Highbridge at 11am on October 23.

Police have now enlisted the help of the coastguard, a police helicopter, Avon Search and rescue and the police dog unit to help find her.

She was reported missing yesterday and her family are worried because she left without the medication she needs.

The white woman is 5”4 tall, slim with greying auburn hair. She was last seen wearing a blue fleece with a small logo on the top left of the sleeve, a brown mottled scarf, light-coloured shoes and carrying a white handbag.

Police are worried she may be confused and bewildered and concern is growing as the remaining daylight hours fade.

There has been a possible sighting of a woman matching her description in West Huntspill but they are keeping an open mind and remaining people to remain vigilant in other parts of Somerset.

Police have also appealed to half-term visitors to the area to look for Edith and call the police if they spot her.

Edith has gone missing in the past and could have travelled anywhere in the Avon and Somerset area.

Previously, she has been found in Bridgwater and Weston.

Anyone who has seen Edith or has any information should call police on 101.
