Motorists can now use their phone to pay for on-street parking charges, North Somerset Council has revealed.
People can now use a virtual payment system to buy a ticket by text, using the MiPermit app or via the MiPermit website.
A virtual ticket is then transferred to a civil enforcement officer’s handset indicating the vehicle parked in the area has been paid for.
Users also have the option to opt in for a 20-minute expiry notification via text message.
The roll-out comes after a successful trial of council-owned car parks.
The two-hour maximum stay limit remains in force with Weston-super-Mare currently being the only area in North Somerset to charge for on-street parking.
MiPermit is available to download from Apple and selected Android devices, or alternatively you can visit the MiPermit website to pay for parking.
