Adoption trust receiving fewer enquiries for children needing homes

An adoption agency and charitable trust is appealing for prospective parents to come forward.

Families For Children says more children are waiting to be adopted, but it has had fewer enquiries.

Jim Fitton, Somerset practice manager for the charity, said: “We are still feeling the effects of the situation we were in two years ago where there were very few children with adoption orders and we had an abundance of adopters waiting for children – this is now not the case and we hope to raise awareness in the county about the urgent need for adopters for all kinds of children waiting.”

Families For Children is an alternative way to local authorities to go through the adoption process.

The charity has been running for 25 years, and has placed 750 children with families in Somerset, Devon, Dorset and Cornwall.
