More homes planned for Congresbury

PUBLISHED: 14:00 12 June 2017

A developer is seeking permission from North Somerset Council to build seven homes in a village.

Crown Developments wants to build three four-bedroom homes and four three-bedroom homes in Congresbury, to the north of Yeo Court, in Mill Lane, near The Plough pub.

The site had been earmarked for commercial development rather than residential, but Crown Developments said only two firm commercial offers to purchase the site were received in the past three years – and both fell through.

The applicant’s planning statement added: “The market signals are that there is no realistic prospect of a commercial development being implemented.

“The vacant site detracts from the character and appearance of the remainder of the redeveloped area.

“The proposal represents an opportunity to substantially improve the character and appearance of this previously developed site, and its contribution to the visual amenity of the area.”
