MORE staff posts are to go at Weston General Hospital as health bosses move to cut spending.Reviews will begin soon of the accident and emergency department to find £200,000 of staff savings and £500,000 from other medical departments and support areas, but bosses insist this may not mean redundancies.The cuts come on top of lost beds and 60 nursing and management posts announced in April. The hospital is still expecting to go £5million over budget this financial year, though the figure could be as high as £6.6m in a worst case scenario.A spokesman said: "Posts are being reduced, but the services are being redesigned to be more efficient so patients will not notice any differences."We will make the £500,000 savings of staff by not replacing people who retire or leave by the end of the year."They said unfilled posts in accident and emergency would also be cut.* Inspectors with the Weston Hospital Patient and Public Involvement Forum revealed that eight out of 11 wards were dusty during an investigation in June.There were also problems with empty disinfectant gel dispensers and uneven flooring.In a letter to the forum, the hospital said: "The trust believes cleanliness has improved and is continuing to improve.
