NORTH SOMERSET: COUNCIL bosses are urging pet owners to act responsibly following an increase in the number of stray dogs across the district. This year has seen a significant increase in the number of stray dogs being picked up by North Somerset Council dog warden.Dog warden Daran Bevan said: "If you have a dog it must wear a collar and tag at all times in a public place."By law the tag should contain the owner's name and address and a telephone number would also be useful."If a dog gets lost or strays, these details make the job of returning it much easier and quicker."And if a dog is found without these details the owner may be liable to prosecution.
