Resolving noise disputes is taking up 'a huge amount of time and money' for a Somerset council, which is calling on people to think about the disturbance they are causing.
Sedgemoor District Council has received 240 complaints in the past year, which have included reports of dog barking, noisy music, as well as vehicle alarms.
The complaints have seen the authority issue four noise abatement notices, and over the past three years it has confiscated 150 pieces of sound equipment.
A spokesman for the council said: “Many organisations are frequently involved in resolving noise disputes – so this represents a huge amount of time and money.
“Preventing noise problems is much cheaper than curing them – and better for everyone.”
